Yellow
Pale yellow works well with soft blues, pinks and greens and neutral grays.  Bold yellows and formal shades of gold demand equally intense color companions such as royal blue, crimson red or primrose pink.  When paired with violet (its complement on the color wheel) yellow becomes regal.  Gentler versions such as amethyst and butter cream, say "spring".

Yellow-Green
Light yellow-green combines easily with blues and yellows for a summery look.  Low intensity yellow-greens harmonize with warm beiges and creamy whites.  Red-violet, the color opposite on the color wheel balances the warmth of yellow-green in a sophisticated complementary relationship.

Green
Green looks at home in almost any color scheme.  In the company of yrllos, peaches and pinks, green exerts a cooling influence.  Green is just as appropriate with blues and violoets, hues on the same side of the color wheel.  Although it is a secondary color, made up of equal parts of primary yellow and blue, green is so prevalent in decorating that it is sometimes referred to as "the fourth primary."
